Endoscopic sinus surgery in Morocco

Endoscopic sinus surgery is a minimally invasive procedure that does not require any skin incisions and can be used to treat acute or chronic sinus conditions, whether infectious or tumorous.

Performed through the natural passages—the nostrils—this technique offers lasting results while avoiding visible scarring and significantly reducing post-operative discomfort.

Our ENT center in Morocco is equipped with the latest endoscopy and surgical navigation technologies, ensuring optimal precision and maximum safety for each patient.

This procedure involves inserting a rigid endoscope equipped with a high-definition camera into the nasal passages, allowing the surgeon to access the sinuses without making any external incisions. The aim is to restore natural ventilation and drainage of the sinuses by removing diseased tissue or widening obstructed areas.

In some complex cases, the surgery may be assisted by a computer or navigation system, ensuring millimeter precision.

Endoscopic sinus surgery is mainly indicated in the following situations:

  • Acute sinusitis that is resistant to medical treatment or severe.
  • Naso-sinus polyposis that has failed medical treatment.
  • Recurrent infections that impair quality of life.
  • Sinus-related complications (visual disturbances, persistent pain, etc.).
  • Sinus tumors.

Each indication is made after a complete clinical and paraclinical (CT scan) assessment to determine the extent of the disease and allow anatomical localization.

  • Expertise of Dr. Younes Chekkoury, specialist in ENT and head and neck surgery, trained in renowned Parisian hospitals.

  • Use of the latest endoscopy, navigation, and minimally invasive surgery technologies.

  • Personalized and attentive approach, focused on patient comfort and safety.

  • Rigorous post-operative follow-up to ensure optimal and lasting results.

The advantages of endoscopic surgery

Procedure and postoperative care

Hospitalization is usually outpatient or short, lasting between 24 and 48 hours. The after-effects are more likely to be nasal discomfort (stuffy nose, scabs) than intense pain. Gauze packing at the end of the procedure is not routine.

Patients can quickly resume eating and daily activities, subject to careful medical follow-up.

Special attention must be paid to post-operative care: washing the nasal cavities several times a day with saline solution to facilitate healing and nasal breathing.

Post-operative follow-up is essential in order to clean the nasal cavities, check healing, and prevent recurrence.

Like any surgical procedure, endoscopic sinus surgery carries risks, although these are rare:

  • Postoperative bleeding.
  • Recurrence of polyps or infection.
  • Exceptional complications related to the proximity of the eyes and brain.

These risks are limited by the precision of modern endoscopic techniques and regular follow-up.
